Scion-rootstock interaction and drought systemic effect modulate the organ-specific terpene profiles in grafted Pinus pinaster Ait

چکیده

Intraspecific grafting with selected scions and rootstocks was used to study drought tolerance in the recalcitrant Mediterranean conifer P. pinaster. Conifers store different terpene types needles, stems roots, which can be modified by drought, but most studies have focused on a single organ over terpenes limits understanding of overall plant response. In this work, profile (160 components among mono-, sesqui-, di-terpenes resin acids) as well eco-physiological traits were assessed scion rootstock analyze sensibility grafted pinaster trees. We two from wet (Galicia) dry (Oria) provenances onto showing differences efficiency water use, grown under regimes, well-watered stressed. Constitutively, organs showed clearly qualitative quantitative profiles, such long-term optimized resources allocation, being neutral acid diterpenes those more discriminant. Environmental factors may selectively affect regulation diterpene biosynthesis since determined variation their mainly regarding again diterpenes. Different scion-conferred phenotypes observed each organ, having relevant role isoabienol content. Drought triggered needle/root acids redistribution, provide higher protection correlated effective stress endured plants. sensitivity scion-rootstock combinations intensity drought-triggered changes levels all organs, suggesting that chemical defense are somehow interconnected.

Sawing simulation of Pinus pinaster Ait

The paper deals with the sawing simulation of Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Ait.) and is a report from a project aiming to increase the knowledge in how different raw material characteristics and sawing factors are affecting on the sawing yield of Maritime pine. The conversion was executed by an integrated optimising software system, WooDCIM® developed at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finlan...

Rootstock effects on scion growth and reproduction in 8-year-old grafted loblolly pine

Contributions of sites, rootstocks, and scion clones (and the interactions between these factors) to scion growth and reproduction were studied in loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.). Twenty-five full-sib families were used as rootstocks. Six scion clones were grafted on them in all combinations. Study sites were three seed orchards in the southeastern United States; trees were measured 8 years afte...

Genetic control of pulp and timber properties in maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Ait.)

Wood is one of our most important natural resources and has been exploited for many hundreds of years as fuel, building material and a source of paper. Its composition is variable among and within species. The ability to monitor the intra-specific variability is a prerequisite to improve wood and end-products properties. This paper describes a study of the genetic control of a large set of wood...

Compression wood-responsive proteins in developing xylem of maritime pine (Pinus pinaster ait.).

When a conifer shoot is displaced from its vertical position, compression wood (CW) is formed on the under side and can eventually return the shoot to its original position. Changes in cell wall structure and chemistry associated with CW are likely to result from differential gene/protein expression. Two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of differentiating xylem proteins was combin...
